Couples Getaway to Atlantis Casino Resort Spa

Between three surgeries, the purchase of a home built in 1878, a car accident, and the daily rigmarole of parenting four children, this past year has been a tad exhausting to say the least. Luckily I have great kids and a supportive husband, but sometimes you just need to get away and escape it all. I believe it’s important to have little getaways so parents can recharge their batteries and come home refreshed and energized to tackle life’s challenges. I was thrilled when I was invited to a couples getaway to Atlantis Casino Resort Spa in Reno, as it couldn’t have come at a better time.

I’ve had friends visit the Atlantis Spa and absolutely raved about it, which has made me want to visit ever since.  Atlantis is a AAA Four Diamond/Forbes Travel Guide Recommended hotel and I can see why. I was scheduled to receive a Swedish Massage at the spa, which I took full advantage of. The spa is beautiful, elegant and extremely relaxing. Not only was the massage incredible with the right amount of pressure and relaxation, but spa goers also get to take advantage of the swimming pool, whirlpool spa, sauna, tea lounge and brine inhalation-light therapy room.

I’m sure there was even more I didn’t have time to enjoy, including the couples room! I did, however, make use of the showers to get cleaned up before going back to my room. I NEED a shower like the ones in the locker rooms. Talk about shower heads and water coming from every which direction! One thing is for sure – I’ll be going back, and I’ll be taking my swimsuit and allowing for more time to just relax in the spa.

Bistro Napa at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa

Atlantis Casino Resort Spa has some of the highest rated restaurants in Reno, so your dining needs are sure to be met, and then some. We dined at Bistro Napa for dinner and Toucan Charlie’s Buffet & Grille for lunch. We were really tempted by the All-you-can-eat sushi at the Sushi Bar, but the buffet won out.

Service at Bistro Napa was incredible, and the atmosphere was perfect for date night. We just missed the social hour with half-price appetizers and drinks, but dinner was so good that we hardly missed it. We enjoyed the Baked Brie with Lingonberry Sauce, Crushed Pistachios and Wood-Fired Crostini as our starter. This had a nice combination of sweet and savory, and let’s face it, you can never go wrong with brie.

For our entree, we shared the Cabernet Braised Boneless Short Ribs served with Boursin and Chive Mashed Potatoes, Herb Salad, Sauce Bordelaise. We even had leftovers after sharing! The short ribs were slow-roasted all day long and the fact that they fell apart in our mouths was evidence of that. Everything was cooked and seasoned to perfection.

Toucan Charlie's Buffet & Grill at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa

Toucan Charlie’s Buffet & Grille has the best buffet in Reno and rightfully so. With a wide variety of cuisines available, there’s sure to be something for everyone. The restaurant was super clean, and the staff stayed on top of buffet cleanliness so you felt like everything was made fresh just for you. Choose between a beautiful charcuterie board, Mexican, Chinese, Mongolian BBQ and so much more. Not to mention the wide array of desserts! This buffet is not to be missed, so come with a big appetite.

I’ve stayed at many Reno hotels and nothing has compared to the beautiful rooms in the Atlantis tower. We stayed in the Concierge Tower so we got to take advantage of that in addition to our room. Our room was comfortable for sleeping, (yes the pillows were amazing, and if you’ve read my past hotel reviews you know how important the pillows are to me), and relaxing, complete with sofa in the room and a TV in the bathroom for movie watching from the bathtub.

25th floor Concierge Lounge at Atlantis Casino Resort Spa

The 25th floor Concierge Lounge had hors d’oeuvres, desserts and breakfast available to us with set times each day. It’s nice to stop in for a little taste of something before heading out for the nightlife, and the breakfast options were perfect. Not too over the top, but better than a typical continental breakfast as well.

Atlantis Casino Resort Spa

All-in-all, I’d say Atlantis Casino Resort Spa is the perfect place for a couples getaway, girls weekend or even just for a solo outing so you can personally recharge your batteries and have your own mental health day. It’s worth the trip for so many reasons, and that’s all aside from the Casino. Did I mention they have a non-smoking floor for slots and it happens to be where the Sushi Bar is? So much to do and eat!!
